Some pictures from our March walk
The walk:
The walk will be between just over three miles or four and a half miles, we will decide this on the day after taking consideration of the weather and the ability of those that turn up on the day. Starting from the Castle Marina, we will go onto the Beeston cut then onto the River Leen path. We follow this to the river Trent. Then pick up the path along the Trent that goes’ under Clifton bridge. We can if needed go up to the Beeston canal from the back of Players Horizon factory and back to the Marina for the short walk. Or carry on along the Trent side path towards Beeston. Then take the foot path to BOOTS canal foot Path Bridge to join the Beeston canal there following it back to the Marina for the long walk.
Getting there:
There are a number of ways of getting there From The Crown Island myself I would take the ring road to Abbey Bridge then onto Castle boulevard turn right over the canal bridge. Look to the right you will see the Beefeater, take the right hand lane round the roundabout onto the next island, right turn again this will take you past the back of the Premier inn to the Beefeater car park About 2 miles allow approximately 20 minutes for the journey The pub & meals:
The Beefeater has an extensive menu they have a deal on main meals if ordered before 6.30 PM. We used this venue on the February walk and it appeared to go down OK, the staff was most helpful.
All meals can be ordered on the day before we start the walk.
Facilities will be available before the walk.
